PELVIC FLOOR PHYSIOTHERAPY
Varsha Bhikha is Vermont Medical Clinic’s in-house physiotherapist who, in addition to traditional physiotherapy practices, Varsha has completed Post Graduate training in pelvic floor related conditions.
With this training it allows her to assess pelvic floor muscles, Varsha will provide patients with an individualised exercise program to aid with issues such as urine incontinence, pelvis pain, prolapse and pain during pregnancy.
A Pelvic Floor Physiotherapist is able to assess your muscles to gain a thorough understanding of the cause of symptoms. This is done by a visual examination, ultrasound or internal assessment.
After this, patients will be provided with an optimal exercise program that is tailored for the individual needs of a specific issue. For example, if muscle strength is an issue, a Pelvic Floor Physiotherapist will provide a specific program tailored to increase the force and power the muscle can generate.
Another common issue for women who report doing their exercises, is not quite understanding how to achieve the “pelvic floor squeeze”. Pelvic Floor Physiotherapists are trained to show you exactly how to contract the muscles appropriately to achieve the most effective results.
If you are suffering from any of the symptoms mentioned above, we recommend seeing our Pelvic Floor Physiotherapist Varsha who is trained in this area. To arrange your private appointment, contact us today.
The fee for Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy is $160 for an initial assessment, a medicare rebate will be available for patients with a care plan. Subsequent consultations are $95.
